AWARE 1st Annual Conference in D.C.
The UAA's new AWARE 1st Annual Conference commences today July 23rd. The UAA is calling humanitarians from around the globe to attend the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington D.C. The AWARE (Africans Working to Address to Respond and to End violence against women) program is the UAA's initiative to stop violence against women.
What is AWARE?
AWARE is a program to end violence against women in Africa. There are many non-profit and federal programs that provide food resources feed the hungry. However, the AWARE program addresses the blurry lines of violence in regards of the conditioning of cultural tradition and implements prevention against women by attacking the root of the matter. The program has increased awareness to many international organizations to help abused women in Africa, discovering solutions and adopting new methods to educate men in the community about not condoning this behavior and how there are consequences to performing violent acts against women.
The AWARE Conference will have presentation followed by a reception conducted by Chef Michael Hall. Attending will be a panel of experts that will discuss and develop an action plan to foresight obstacles that must be conquered to make the AWARE program a success.
